THANK YOU

Thank you, Westend family and council, for the care and support you continue to show our mom, Phyllis Flietstra, while living at Waterford-Memory Care. Mom loves looking (and re-looking) at her many cards that she has received from you, and she does recall some of you too!   It brings her such joy, and that makes us happy too, especially during these long days of separation & isolation.

May I ask that you to continue to pray for Mom, along with many others who feel lonely and are unable to be with their families. But also please pray for the families that are so longing to spend these treasured times together with their loved ones.  Thank you again.

~ On behalf of my family,

Shelly (Flietstra) Steensma

2021 came upon us so fast. As we move through January I’m reminded that January is National Mentoring Month. This is a time to celebrate mentoring and the positive effect it has on young lives. It’s a time to raise awareness of the need for more mentors to fill the waiting list of children at Shawmut School. It’s also a time of gratitude as we recognize the volunteers who make a difference in the lives of the children in our community, walking together in one-on-one relationships. We’re thankful for our mentors who continue to show up in new ways – teaching our students life lessons that go beyond classroom learning. We’re thankful for our prayer partners who fight the battle on their knees.

Mentors: Thank you for continuing to make yourself available to change the life of a student. We know this year has brought a stop to mentoring but each of you have reached out to your students through notes, phone calls, visits, and prayers. We need to press on. The children in our mentoring program at Shawmut School need us to continue walking with them during this difficult season. Only time and eternity will tell the impact each mentor – now and those who have mentored in the past – will have had on a student. So thank you!

Prayer Partners: Thank you for making prayer a priority for our Kids Hope mentoring program. The mentor-student relationship you consistently pray for depends on divine assistance for successful outcomes. You have chosen to fight the battle on your knees, a battle position not of defense but of offense asking God to do what only He can while we do everything we can. We count on your prayers to help us continue to persevere as we move forward in this crazy school year.

Thank you Westend Church for the continued support you give to the Kids Hope program and to me. -Sue Mellema

We are excited about getting together as a Westend family to sing carols and hear a brief Christmas message outdoors with Hot cocoa!  You are welcome to bring chairs and blankets with you.  We look forward to celebrating together!

If you claimed a WE Bless tag and still need to drop off your gift, please bring your gift to the office on Monday December 14th from 9am-3pm!

Please consider sending a Christmas card to our shut-ins this year! The cut off to have the Deacons to deliver your cards has passed, but if you would like to mail your cards directly to our shut-ins, you can still request a list of shut-ins/addresses from the church office!

2021 Offering Envelopes are here!  Stop into the office Monday-Friday from 9am-3pm to pick up your offering envelopes as well as an updated church directory!  Please contact Nichole in the office to make arrangements to pick up outside of office hours!

Have you been blessed financially this year even with all of the challenges that have occurred in 2020?  If you have been blessed financially, please consider giving to this years Christmas blessings fund. This fund is meant to help our church families who have not been so fortunate. You can mark your donation as “Christmas Blessings” and pay either online or send in a check to the church office.

The CEMC meeting scheduled for December 15th has been cancelled.  The next target meeting would be January 26, 2021 (pending virus conditions)

THANK YOU!

The Christian Education Ministry Committee wishes to THANK THE WESTEND CONGREGATION for your faithful giving, for THE KIDS, between April and November. To date, God has blessed the giving for Christian education with $63,249 toward our goal of $71,770. The total given includes collections, fund-raising and individual giving. The ministry uses the giving to support 18 families and 34 students attending 6 different Christian schools. We invite you to pray for this ministry and continue to help, as you are able. Our $71,770 goal needs to be completed by March 2021. Met and Exceed

It is with Joy and Praise to God that we can announce we are currently meeting our year-to-date General Fund financial goals. Thank you Westend family for your continuous support of the ministries at Westend CRC.

Have you been blessed in the past year? Would you consider a YEAR END gift to Westend for some specific, unmet needs within our church? Would you please consider your additional giving to assist in future needs within Westend Church? Some specific needs are listed below.

Video and Sound System upgrade(s)-  $20,150.00 (congregation approved). Current funding will take place through the Facilities improvement fund.  Can you assist in offsetting costs?

If you feel led to bless existing ministries at Westend, consider:

·       Westend General Fund

·       Christian Education

·       Gems, Cadets, KidsHope

·       Sponsor a Feeding America Food Truck

These items, though seemingly inconsequential, add to our outreach and ministries here at Westend CRC. For further and specific facilities needs, please direct your inquiry to Jeremy Marsman (Church administrator) and/or Barry Ruiter (Ad Board Elder, Facilities chair)

Please be informed that all gifts to Westend CRC are conditional and subject to the “best interests of the church” standard set forth in the Designated Gifts Policy. All gifts received shall be used and distributed in accordance with this policy.

Thank you for your consideration and continued support!

THANK YOU!

Thank you for your many expressions of concern and sympathy at the time of our son’s tragic death.  Thru prayer, cards, flowers, meals and other acts of kindness you have shown what it means to be supported by the body of Christ.
