Bulletin 1-28-18

January 28, 2018

This morning Pastor Kory continues the sermon series Now What? with Guide, from Acts 2.

The second offering will be for Hope Unexpected.

Next Sunday we are privileged to celebrate Holy Communion, and Pastor Kory concludes the sermon series Now What? with Grace, from Romans 6.

Our opportunities for giving will be for the Ministries Fund and Faith Promise.

We are thankful that none of our members are hospitalized right now. Please remember in prayer those who continue to receive cancer treatments, those who are recovering from illness and injury, and those who face medical procedures in the coming weeks.

Grateful for God’s amazing gifts, we:

gather for joyful worship of God,

give ourselves in loving service,

grow in faith and love,

guide people to Jesus Christ.

Community Dinners! Come this Wednesday for delectable pulled pork, salad, and dessert. Come next Wednesday (yes – that’s two weeks in a row) for a catered dinner served by our very own elders. Two weeks – two Wednesdays you don’t have to cook!

Did your mailbox move? We are excited that new members are coming to Westend! In order to add new names to our mailboxes, many existing names have shifted, so please look carefully when you take your mail.

The Ladies’ Thursday afternoon Bible Study meets this week. Please read Psalm 46.

Is your birthday in February? If it is, you are asked to share your birthday joy, and some cookies for coffee time. Cookies may be left in the main kitchen and labeled Coffee Time.

Book Club will meet February 8. The book to read is Heaven is Beyond Your Wildest Expectations, by Sid Roth and Lonnie Lane.

Save Friday, February 16, for the 9th Annual Westend Trivia Contest and snack-sharing extravaganza! There will be 10 new categories with 10 questions each (100 chances for Bob Shultz to shine). Bring your wise friends, your smart alecs, or entertaining relatives to join your team. Leave the very young humans with a sitter as no nursery will be provided. Questions? See John Christians or Jamison Worst.

Boots are needed at Shawmut Hills. If you have any gently used kids’ boots that you are willing to donate, please put them in the box near the mailboxes. Thank you.

Small groups meet once or twice a month to do life and to grow in faith together. If you are interested in joining one, you may sign up on the table in the fellowship center or talk to Jamison.
