GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

New Member Orientation. If you’ve been thinking about making Westend your official church home, you are invited to a New Member Orientation led by Pastor Kory. We will meet Sunday, January 21, in the Cafe after church. A light lunch and childcare will be provided. Learn more about Westend, our ministries, and how you can be a part of it. Sign up on the table in the Fellowship Center.

 

Today we resume our Bible study with Dr Dan Kroeze. Come at 5:30, and bring a snack to share if you would like to.

 

Griffins Hockey Night! Watch the Griffins play the Cleveland Monsters this Friday, January 12. Game starts at 7 PM. Tickets are $13. RSVP and payment are due TODAY to Jamison.

 

The deacons are looking for a volunteer to provide two members with a ride to and from church the third Sunday of each month. If you are willing to help, please contact Julie VG.

Book Club meets January 11. The book to read is Glory Over Everything, by Kathleen Grissom.

 

January 17 will be the youth-sponsored Community (post) Christmas Ham Dinner! Come for ham, potatoes, veggies, and dessert. You know it will be fabulous!

 

Our first Feeding America truck of the new year is coming January 17. Please sign up to help if you can. There are also envelopes by the sign up sheet for any who wish to contribute toward the Feeding America truck.

 

The shut-in visiting team will meet Thursday, January 18, at 9:30 in the Café.

 

The Thursday evening ladies group starts a new study January 18 at 6:30 in the Café, and will meet the 3rd Thursday of each month for 7 months. Priscilla Shirer’s video based study Discerning the Voice of God will be used. Please join us. If you have questions, or wish to reserve a study guide, contact Faye.

 

Safe Church training will be held Thursday, January 25, 6:30 PM. If you are a teacher, leader, mentor, or council member who has not had the training in the last 3 years, please plan to attend.

 

YOUTH

 

JRock (6th – 8th grades)

  • We meet this afternoon at 3:45 and take a look at What Makes the Bible So Compelling?
  • Griffins! We’ll take in a game this Friday. Meet at church at 6 for pizza, then head out to the game. RSVP is due TODAY! Cost $13.

 

LIFE (9th – 12th grades)

  • We meet the evening at 6 and take a look at What Makes the Bible So Compelling?
  • Griffins! Check the JRock announcement.
  • We meet next Sunday at 6 PM.
  • Our fundraising ham dinner is January 17. Sign up with Brian if you haven’t yet done so.

The annual Memorial Service for the Unborn will be held January 14, 2 PM at St Jude Catholic Church on 4 Mile Road. This is sponsored by GR Right to Life and is an opportunity to remember the 58 million children who have lost their lives in the 45 years since the legalization of abortion.
