Bulletin 2-4-18

February 4, 2018

This morning we are privileged to celebrate Holy Communion. Pastor Kory will conclude the sermon series Now What? with Grace, from Romans 6.

The second offering will be for Faith Promise.

Next Sunday is GEMS Sunday and our GEMS girls and their leaders will participate in the service. Pastor Kory’s message will be Walk This Way, from 1 John 2:6.

Our opportunities for giving will be for the Ministries Fund and GEMS.

We offer our sympathy to Jackie Sutton and family in the death of her mother, Mary Poortvliet, last week.

Ron Griffin had a series of tests last week. More surgery will be necessary soon.

We wish to thank the congregation for the many well wishes, cards, calls, and prayers during Martha’s recent illness. She is doing much better. Thank you.

~ the Besteman family

A big thank you for all the cards, words of comfort and especially prayers during my Mom’s hospitalization and passing.

~ Joe, Pam, Kelly, Scott and Kyle Johnson

The Bible study led by Dan Kroeze will NOT meet this evening as previously announced. The next time Dan will lead us will be February 18.

Community Dinner! Come this Wednesday for a fabulous catered dinner served by our very own elders. Who needs an excuse to go out to eat? Come for dinner, stay for GEMS, Cadets, Bible Study and conversation.

Book Club will meet this Thursday at 7 PM. The book to read is Heaven is Beyond Your Wildest Expectations, by Sid Roth and Lonnie Lane.

Jason and Stephanie Smith are expecting triplets this spring! If you would like to help them prepare for this exciting event, you can bring gifts for the family on February 25 or March 4 – a table will be set up in the fellowship center. They are registered at Amazon.com and Target under the last name Smith Triplets. They are also open to hand-me-down items. If you prefer to make a monetary donation, see Jennifer VanStrien who will then purchase for the growing Smith family.

Boots are needed at Shawmut Hills. If you have any gently used kids’ boots that you are willing to donate, or if you are willing to buy some, please put them in the box near the mailboxes. Thank you.

Save Friday, February 16, for the 9th Annual Westend Trivia Contest and snack-sharing extravaganza! There will be 10 new categories with 10 questions each. Bring your wise friends, your smart alecs, or entertaining relatives to join your team. Leave the very young humans with a sitter as no nursery will be provided. Questions? See John Christians or Jamison Worst.

The next Feeding America truck will be here on Wednesday, February 21. Please sign up to help if you are able. The sign up sheet is in the fellowship center.

Save Tuesday, February 27, for a night out. Where? At Chick-fil-a! Our Westend Youth Group will get a percentage of the sales for that night, from 5-7 PM. So tell your friends, bring the family, and eat some chicken. More details to come.
