Bulletin 8-13-17

August 13, 2017

Our guest preacher today is Rev Kory Plockmeyer from Sioux Center, Iowa. His message, The World Turned Upside Down, is from John 1.

Our Search Committee has made the recommendation to Council that we consider extending a call to Pastor Kory, who is here with his family this weekend. Come meet him, his wife Lauren, and their children after the service today.

Next Sunday our guest preacher will be Rev Andrea DeWard. During the service Ellie Marie DeKryger, daughter of Stephanie and Brent, will be baptized.

Our opportunities for giving will be for the Ministries Fund and Benevolence.

Chuck Tumbling has been moved to St Mary’s rehab facility on 4 Mile Road. He is very weak.

Grateful for God’s amazing gifts, we:

gather for joyful worship of God,

give ourselves in loving service,

grow in faith and love,

guide people to Jesus Christ.

In the event that Council votes to recommend calling Rev Kory Plockmeyer at their meeting this afternoon, a congregational meeting will be held next Sunday, August 20, immediately following the worship service. Absentee ballots will be available in the church office. Should you be unable to obtain one, you may request an email version from office@westendcrc.org and return it electronically. Electronic forms must be received by noon on Friday, August 18. Paper ballots must be received before the congregational meeting on August 20.

Our backpack festival is less than two weeks away! On Saturday, August 26, from 11 AM to 1 PM, we hope to have lots of kids coming for school supplies, fun, and games. The items that we need most are:

girls’ backpacks

colored pencils

glue sticks

There is a box near the mailboxes for donations. Thank you!

Helpers are also needed for the backpack festival. Many hands are needed to set up, take down, run games, serve food, get food ready, and of course, bake cookies. A sign up sheet is in the back of church. Questions? Contact Sue, Sue, or Ruth.

Please check your mailbox for a fiscal year end budget report.

The Cadet Counselors will have a planning meeting this Wednesday at 7 PM.

One more reminder – please turn in your directory entry with any corrections or additions to the Secretary mailbox.
