Bulletin 8-6-17

August 6, 2017

Our guest preacher today is Ty Hogue. His message, Wrestling Necessary, is from Genesis 32. We will also celebrate the Lord’s Supper.

Next Sunday our guest preacher will be our very own Brian Myers.

Our opportunities for giving will be for the Ministries Fund and Christian Education.

Please pray for Bill Hop, who is now in hospice care.

Tryson Smallegan had headaches Thursday night, and yet another surgery Friday morning. Please pray for his complete healing.

Chuck Tumbling is having many health complications after his surgery. He remains in intensive care.

We offer our sympathy to Lexi Veltema, whose grandfather passed away last week.

Today is the first Sunday of the month, and you are asked to remember our shut-ins in some way. They are; Harry Boersma, Bette Bomhof, Virginia Boonstra, Chuck Cheslek, Bill Hop, Karen Hop, Gerald Horstman, Mary Koets, Faye Lazzarini, Phyllis Lehrke, Clarence and Lucy Maat, Jean Near, Hal Rodenhouse, Eileen Stehouwer, John Timmer, and Marjorie Tuit.

Road resurfacing will begin tomorrow on Westend Ave.

It’s a beach party dude! Westenders of all ages are invited to hang out at Grand Haven State Park this Saturday to swim, relax, grill, and have a great time! Look for a pirate flag near the bathroom complex around noon. Bring your grill, food, beach toys, paddle boards, and sunscreen. There will be a bag toss tournament at 4 PM with prizes! At 7 PM, head out to Maranatha for a free family friendly concert by Slugs and Bugs. Kids and adults will enjoy the fun Biblically based songs. Questions? See Jamison or Kristen.

Our backpack festival is coming soon! On Saturday, August 26, from 11 AM to 1 PM, we hope to have lots of kids coming for school supplies, fun, and games. The most needed items are:

girls’ backpacks

colored pencils

glue sticks

There is a box near the mailboxes for donations. Thank you!

Helpers are also needed for the backpack festival. Many hands are needed to set up, take down, run games, serve food, get food ready, and of course, bake cookies. A sign up sheet is in the back of church. Questions? Contact Sue, Sue, or Ruth.

Our Christian Education Committee is in need of new members. If you would like to volunteer, or if you have questions, please contact April Myles.

Needed: A Catechism teacher for the 11th-12th grade class. Contact Bethany.

Also needed are teachers for elementary age Sunday School classes, and teachers for Children’s Worship. Please contact Alisha at amyers@westendcrc.org.
