CHURCH FAMILY

Please keep Marilyn Zoodsma’s 13 week old great granddaughter, Artimas, in your prayers.  She will be having a shunt implanted to remove fluid from her brain.

Christie VanKuiken met with her surgeon on Thursday.  She has a surgery scheduled for October 25th where they will remove a portion of her colon and lymph nodes.  If the lymph nodes are cancer-free then her expected recovery will be 6 weeks.  Please continue to keep her in your prayers.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS 

Safe Church training will be held after church today in the Sanctuary.  If you are a teacher, leader, mentor or council member who has not had training in the last 3 years, please plan to attend one of those dates!  If you are unsure if you need to attend, please contact Julie to see!

Fall = Fun!  Westend Fall Fest will be next Sunday, October 17th.  Join us for donuts, cider and pumpkin decorating following the morning service.

We would like to give a huge thank you to everyone who showed up to help with food prepping, cooking, setting up, serving and making this week’s Westend Wednesday a success! We couldn’t have done it without our church family!  

Zumba is back! All are welcome to join us Monday evenings 6:30-7:30pm in the Fellowship Center.  Our first class begins October 18th!  Questions?  Contact the office!

Did you order your burritos yet?  Forms were in mailboxes (and extras are at the Welcome Center) so you can get your famous Trini’s wet burritos, frozen and ready for you to bake at home.  This is a Christian Ed fundraiser that you don’t want to miss!  Orders with payment may be placed in the Mata mailbox no later than Oct 17th, pick up is Nov 3rd.

YOUTH

JROCK

–  Join us next Sunday (Oct. 17th) for food, games and a Bible lesson.  We will meet downstairs from 3:45-5:30pm.

LIFE

–  Join us tonight from 6-8pm We will meet in the church basement for dinner, a Bible lesson and other group activities.  This week we will dig into the big question “Where Do I Belong?”  Hope to see you there! 

-Join us next Sunday for a bonfire from 5:30-9pm.  We will have hot dogs, campfire pizza pies, s’mores, hot chocolate, capture the flag and lots of opportunities to run around and have some fun.  You can meet us at church or at the Rodenhouse’s.

HELP NEEDED! 

The Christian Education team will be sponsoring our next Westend Wednesday dinner on Wednesday October 20th, from 5:30-6:30pm.  We will be preparing a ham dinner with potatoes, corn, rolls, salad and ice cream for dessert!  We are looking for CEMC members, as well as others, to sign up for a shift to help with this dinner.

Shifts we need help with are: 

3-5:15pm: Set up & Kitchen Help, Food Prep

5-6:30pm: Help with food prep & Serving

6-7:30pm: Kitchen Clean up / table & chairs take down

There is a sign up sheet near the Welcome Center, please sign up for a shift if you are able! 

Funeral Ministry: This is such a loving way to serve others at a time of loss and sadness.  We need a list of names to call when this occasion comes.  Please sign up at the Welcome Center, or contact Kathy Myers @ 616-540-6052.

Coffee Servers Needed! Would you be willing to help serve coffee with a quick clean up after the service on Sunday’s?  It is a wonderful way to greet and meet others!  Please sign up at the Welcome Center, or contact Kathy Myers @ 616-540-6052.

Could you spare 45 minutes once a month on Saturday morning?  We are in need of more help to set up for communion.  Contact Corry Olson, Cathryn Droge or Arla Thomasma if you are willing to do this or with questions.

REQUESTED ANNOUNCEMENTS 

The Christian Rest Home Women’s Service Board presents The Voices of Victory Quartet and Covenant Christian Chamber Choir in concert TONIGHT at 7:15 pm, here at Westend Church!  Please consider a gift during the concert’s offering to help serve the home’s residents who for many years have served us.  If you are not able to attend, please consider mailing a gift  to help with their $6,000 fundraising goal this year!

In your mailbox today is an order form for the Cadet’s fundraiser.  The Cadets are partnering with Peters Gourmet Market to raise money to purchase new camping gear, and eventually a new Cadet trailer.  Orders with payment may be placed in the Faber mailbox no later than Oct 17th (checks can be made out to Westend CRC).  There is also a table located near the mailboxes for orders as well.  Please contact Ryan with questions (616-304-5329 / westendcadets@gmail.com).  Donations may also be made to Cadets.
