CHURCH FAMILY

Please continue to pray for Phyllis Lehrke and Bill & Karen Winegar.  Phyllis was placed in hospice care last Tuesday.  She understands what is going on and seems to be doing ok but tires quickly.

Please keep Christie VanKuiken in your prayers as she has COVID.  Pray that her oxygen levels continue to stay good and that her symptoms will not get critical.  She is the only missionary on the compound and there are many things she needs to do to keep things running while trying to get the rest she needs to get better.

Congrats to Mike and Nikki Koning, who were blessed with a baby girl last Sunday.  They named her Emerson Nicole.

I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to all those who sent a card or a message after Ken’s sudden death.  Your words of comfort and your prayers have been so meaningful during this difficult time.  Ken would have turned 80 years old in October, so we have decided to have a celebration of his life after church near the end of October.  In lieu of flowers, any donations to His Place ministries would be deeply appreciated.  Thank you once again for all your love and prayers. – Lois Blake

We would like to thank all retiring Council members.  They are: Larry Meringa, Dave Offringa, Larry Maat, Barry Ruiter, Mary Ouwinga Stephanie Payton, Micah Graybill and Kyle VanStrien.

NOTES FROM COUNCIL

As most of you are aware, we have been having consistent issues with sound and livestreaming on Sunday mornings.  We have a team of members who are actively working to overcome these issues.  At this time, we are asking for the congregation’s patience as we try to learn how to manage an AV system that is very complex.

Ad Board is currently working on the job descriptions for Pastor Dan and Brian’s new positions.  We are planning on Dan beginning preaching and teaching in September, but we do not yet have a specific date.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

This Monday some of our Kids Hope students will be heading off to Camp Geneva.  Please pray that they have a good week this week!

Just a reminder: There will be no Children’s Worship for July or August.  Nursery will still be available.

We’re hiring!  Westend is currently accepting applications for the Admin and Worship Director jobs.  The job description and more details can be found on our website!

The backpack festival is set for Thursday, August 12th.  If you see any sales on school supplies, feel free to pick some up!  Some ideas of items we are in need of are: backpacks, pencils/pens, crayons, markers, folders, glue stick, and scissors.  There is a bin near the mailboxes for donations.

Are you looking for opportunities to volunteer in the community? We have a VIS friend who is looking for someone to take him shopping at Meijer (Standale) every couple of weeks for the next six months. There are also people who just need groceries dropped off at their door (they pay for the groceries). Please Reach out to Renee Maat if you are interested.
