This Sunday Pastor Dan continues the sermon series Back To Basics with the message Love People, from Luke 10:25-37.
Discovery Hour classes for children and youth will be held immediately following the morning service.
The second offering will be for Kids Hope.

Next Sunday Pastor Dan will continue the sermon series titled Back To Basics with the message Serve The World, from John 13:1-17. We will also hear a mission update from Christie VanKuiken
The second offering will be for Benevolence.
CHURCH FAMILY
Wilma Tumbling’s cough is slowly improving. She is currently at home regaining her strength.
Jim Kok had successful hand surgery on Tuesday and is doing well.
Ed VanPortfliet had successful surgery on his hip Wednesday. Please keep him in prayer as he is still pretty uncomfortable and is looking at 6-8 weeks of recovery.
Jeni VerBeek had successful knee surgery on Thursday. Please pray for her and her recovery.
Please continue to remember Beth Scheidel and Pam Johnson as they continue to recover at home.

As the program year begins here at Westend, we would like to strongly recommend wearing masks when social distancing cannot be maintained- this includes grade school children (at parental discretion). We are excited to announce that we have hired a part-time middle school youth director. Her name is JilAnne German. JilAnne is currently a student at Calvin Seminary and prior to that she helped lead the youth group at her church in Washington State. She is fun, intelligent, and relational which already makes her more gifted for this position than Brian :-). She will be great in this new role! Welcome JilAnne!
Attention all parents of middle school students. Please join us in the church cafe about 10 minutes after church lets out for a quick “meet and greet” with our new middle school youth director, JilAnne. We will take a few minutes to introduce her and answer any questions you may have about JROCK moving forward. Hope to see you then!
Safe Church training will be held after church on Sunday October 3rd and 10th. If you are a teacher, leader, mentor or council member who has not had training in the last 3 years, please plan to attend one of those dates.
Westend Wednesdays are back! Join us this Wednesday at 5:30pm for a youth group sponsored 50’s style dinner that will feature a classic grill out of hamburgers and hot dogs, beans, chips and root beer floats. GEMS and Cadets also get rolling that evening.
Attention anyone with a classic car: We would like to invite you to bring your car out to our 50’s dinner on Wednesday. Please arrive around 5:15 pm and we will have reserved parking for you. Consider this just another fun excuse to take it out for a ride!
Ladies, are you ready to connect with other women but it is hard to commit to a weekly Bible study? Join us for a time to connect with God and each other. No commitment or materials needed, just come ready to worship, study and be together. We will meet the 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month starting September 29th!

HELP NEEDED!
Could you spare 45 minutes once a month on Saturday morning? We are in need of more help to set up for communion. Contact Corry Olson, Cathryn Droge or Arla Thomasma if you are willing to do this or with questions.
We still really need volunteers for both nursery and Children’s Ministry! Please sign up in Planning Center or at the Welcome Center for a Sunday if you are able!
The AV team is still looking for volunteers. If you might be interested in helping to run sound, do slides or video please contact one of the 2 leaders: Micah Graybill or Jeremy Marsman.

JROCK
– Join us this afternoon from 3:45-5:30 for our next JROCK meeting. We will have snacks, games and a fun lesson on what it means to be created in the image of God.

LIFE
– We have our 50’s dinner coming up this Wednesday and volunteers are needed for set up, clean up and during the dinner! If you are able to help out, please let Brian know!
– Our next Sunday meeting is next week Sunday. Join us downstairs from 6-8 pm for food, fun and a Bible lesson
